As this happens, Beyond and Arietta's corruption begins to act strangely, Beyond's having spread to her heart and thus putting her in greater danger. Remora suggests they both be put into stasis until the separation completes, but Beyond refuses to throw away Arietta's dreams, and begins planning with Remora and Arietta to find a way to stop Gaius before she's forced to go into stasis.

Gaius tasked Beyond with supervising the N Project, which eventually developed the NOISZ.

Beyond asked Stornel to make a progress report and look over Remora's model for the N Project's engine, to which he lashed out at her over. Beyond got upset after the interaction, and Remora comforted her.

Under her leadership, the N Project was supposedly canceled and the researcher Stornel was fired. Beyond fought back in her mind against Gaius' blaming her; after all, she was just barely out of high school when Gaius saddled her with this level of responsibility. Yet, she can't manage to voice her objections. She hated her role and dealing with her father, but she put herself through the suffering to ensure that Arietta wouldn't have to.
