Story Context

After Hakuno is forcibly outed by Yashiro, Sumire steps outside to clear her head. While Hitori attempts to calm her down, the two are attacked by a grotesque Noise Beast.

Level Gimmicks

This level is heavily horror themed, from obscuring your vision to altering the drop speed of notes suddenly. In verse 2 there is a walking section where you must dodge bullets to find a sequence of numbers you must input at the end of the section. At the end of the song, the boss will approach you and deal heavy damage if it hits you. To fend it off, you must tap it repeatedly until it vanishes.

On Easy, the horror elements are heavily downplayed, with most of the creepy visuals being replaced with What The Cat.

Strategies

On Hard v3, the bullet pattern at the beginning of the Verse is always the same. It can be split into groups, to make it easier to remember:

First group:

• Center
• Left, 3 times
• Right, 4 times

Second group:

• Left, then right, 4 times

Third group:

• Both, then left
• Both, then right
• Both, then left
• Both

After these three groups, a long red bullet (Long Dennis) will show up and follow the player along the screen.

Trivia

• The enemy has a 1/20 chance to appear uncensored on Hard, and a 1/5 chance to appear uncensored on Overload.
• During the introduction pattern, after each blink animation, there is a 1/50 chance for the bullets to appear blue.
  • Originally, TaroNuke had wanted the introduction bullets to have a 1/50 chance to turn into Void bullets; however, this suggestion was ultimately scrapped.
• During the free roam section, each time a bullet spawner fires a kunai, it has a 1/100 chance to be directly targeted at the player character.
• At one point, halved halved halved had a certain note shader that had to be removed due to inconsistent display across many devices.
• The enemy of halved halved halved was the first enemy for which story context was provided to the Noise Beast illustrator, Yotty Kim, during the design process.
• Long Dennis, the official name of the elongating round bullet that chases the player on Normal and above, is a reference to a recurring character in the YouTube creator Caddicarus' videos. Long Dennis debuted in The Useless World of PS1 Accessories - Caddicarus.
  • Internally, Long Dennis is called a "Bullet Game Object Long."
• (Easy) Spinning Daniel (see “What” the Cat#Spinning Daniel) uses the same player tracking code as Long Dennis.
  • In order to do this, Spinning Daniel, which is a "Taro Bullet" (or a bullet using Lua functions to control various aspects like scaling, rotation, and sprite replacement), uses a Taro Bullet property called "IsDennis."
• This song was originally hinted at in the form of a puzzle solution to the puzzle contained in the NEWSZ stream on August 5th through August 6th of 2023.
  • The first portion of the puzzle, a continuous list of cards, spelled out the artists names for the True Heroes Chapter 5 songs, and for halved halved halved, it was “FRUMS” and “HUNDOTTE.”
• This song was Frums' and Hundotte's first time collaborating on a composition.
