News articles note that support for them is sharply divided along gender lines, with Firebird having far more support with women. Their true identity is that they are another alter of Sumire, having been formed after their participation in Beyond's experiment.

Show/Hide All

Chapter 2

Firebird is first mentioned in Chapter 2.I, in a news report stating that several people have been hospitalised with third-degree burns after encounters with Firebird; social media chatter revealed all of them to be known serial abusers and predators.

Firebird only appears once in person, in an encounter with Grace in Chapter 2.IV; the two argue their differing viewpoints on the meaning of justice. Grace argues what Firebird is doing is not justice, though Firebird does not particularly care whether they are labelled a hero or a villain, instead focusing on protecting the weak.

Firebird states their actions are for the sake of peace and tells Grace that one day she will have to realise how harsh the world is before leaving; Grace attempts to follow, but is interrupted by a Noise Beast. While dispatching it, Firebird absconds.

Chapter 3

It is mentioned in a news article in Chapter 3.I that Firebird intercepted Eito Hojo on his way to Yumi's apartment to kill her; the article states that a struggle occurred before Firebird ran Eito through with a flaming sword, killing him - Firebird's first fatality. The police were unable to find Firebird afterwards.

This casts suspicion on Hitori, though Hakuno says he and Sumire were asleep at the time the confrontation occurred. Firebird continues to attack abusers throughout Chapter 3, though without fatalities.
