Rhyme is an old friend of Hakuno and Sumire, and in middle school, was part of the Flaming Pride Friendship Squad along with them and Han. They are a somewhat brash individual with a devil-may-care attitude, though this has calmed down over the last few years. They love freedom and doing things their own way, and care deeply for their friends despite not being much for open displays of emotion.

They enjoy writing, and currently, they are interning for Heather Valentine.

Story

2ECONDS TO STΔRLIVHT: My Heart's Reflection

Rhyme is first seen retaliating against someone directing transphobic slurs towards them; in response, Rhyme pins them to the ground and forces an apology out of them. Afterwards, they ask the nearby Hakuno and Sumire about the newly formed LGBTQ+ club they'd seen in the posters. Hakuno tells Rhyme about the club and where to meet, and Rhyme heads to class.

After class, Rhyme shows up at the club. Shortly afterwards, Han shows up, and for the next few months, the four of them, now dubbed the Flaming Pride Friendship Squad, hang out in an abandoned classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and eventually, the four of them go on a picnic in an abandoned theater, which is a hit with all of them.

Unfortunately, their in-person time with Hakuno is cut short when a threatening letter in the club's meeting room forces it to shut down; Hakuno comes out as trans to her parents, and is kicked out. She moves far away, meaning she can no longer see Rhyme in person, though they remain in contact over LUNE.

Chapter VS

If Hakuno went on a date with Rhyme, they'll appear again in VS Postlude. Rhyme is about to leave as Hakuno arrives home, but Hakuno stops them and brings them to her room to talk with them. Rhyme apologizes for running on their date, wanting to be good enough for Hakuno. Hakuno assures them she's just happy to have them here. Rhyme admits they're used to being seen as scary, having protected themself as a kid by fighting others who tried hurting them. They had wanted to protect the Flaming Pride Friendship Squad when they joined, especially Hakuno. Despite this, they know Hakuno has feelings for Sumire.

Hakuno admits she does, but she wants to try to be with Rhyme anyways. Hakuno admits she wasn't ready for Rhyme to kiss her during their date, and apologizes for shoving them away with no explanation. Rhyme says they're the one who ran away before she could, and the two laugh over the memory. Rhyme asks Hakuno if she wants to try again, and Hakuno says she does. The two kiss for the first time, followed quickly by the second, and they confess their love to each other.

Chapter 6

Rhyme is mentioned in Chapter 6.IV on their route, as Hakuno explains she'll be gone for the next two years and Rhyme promises to wait for her.

History

Rhyme has not spoken of their history much, but has talked about having an extremely distant relationship with their parents, and became self-sufficient in response.
