Story
Grace makes it at the very last minute, to consternation of teacher and class alike. She sits down and looks across the room to Sera, who quietly mouths a greeting just before the lecture begins - to Grace's dismay, geometry, as she curses her decision to apply for honours math.
During the lecture she glances towards Sera again, and their eyes meet. Sera responds with a small wave, and Grace's heart beats a little bit faster - reminding her exactly why she applied for honours math.
While Grace works on problems in class, a few other students in the room discuss the hot new gossip on Rumor Corner, due to drop before graduation. Against her wishes, Grace overhears that the rumour is about "ice queen" Sera being in love with someone; the students speculate it being Akira.
Grace begins to panic, wondering why Sera's not said anything about it. She worries that there's been a bit more distance between them lately, and resolves to ask Sera over text:

what's up :)
Grace
this is uhh random? kinda? but is there anyone you like
Sera
? oh...is this bc yoko posted that thing
Grace
i guess but also like... we don't really girl talk much lately, i wanna know about my best friend
Grace begins worrying the moment she hits send that she's made a mistake.
Sera
it's embarrassing, we'll talk later
This doesn't help things, and Grace continues to worry that the rumours are true, chiding herself for not having the courage to confess to Sera. However, as she thinks that, the tiniest possibility enters her head: the possibility that Sera likes her back. Grace dismisses this, and is brought back to reality by the teacher calling on her, startling her.
Grace sighs, and decides to stop thinking about the rumours.
