2ECONDS TO STΔRLIVHT: Forever My Diamond/Story/Chapter 6
Characters
Story
There are two possible viewpoints here, depending on the player's choices earlier in the game; if the player has picked confident personality choices for Grace throughout the game, it will be played from her point of view.
Sera laments not having the time to ask Grace about the summer due to her running off, and decides to text her instead.
The school day passes normally, and at the last bell, she heads over to Grace at her desk to inform her that while her and Akira will be busy that day, they'll find time to hang out soon. Her expression normal, Grace replies that she looks forward to it, and asks if they can go over some geometry problems when they have time too; Sera agrees, and leaves to go and head to the old clubroom.
Akira's already there, and the two begin cleaning up as planned, reminiscing the entire time. It's a quick job, and at the end, just before they return the keys, Akira asks Sera to come with her, and she follows him - all the way to the courtyard, where the cherry blossom tree is.
Nervous, Akira gathers his composure before telling Sera that after they graduate, his parents are moving to another city for work. He wishes the three of them could go to high school together, and realises that all the time he's spent with Sera is special to him. He asks Sera if she feels the same about him, and realising the importance of the tree, the nature of his confession becomes apparent to her.
Sera internally registers her respect for his confession, though thinks about the feelings she herself is running away from, and turns Akira down, telling him there's someone else she likes. Despite her response being barely more than a whisper, Akira is still somewhat put out, but concedes that he thought this was the case.
He tells Sera that while he's not mad, she should really tell them how she feels - or he really will be mad. Filled with a new resolve, Sera heads back in the school to confess, only to be stopped by Yoko, who tells Sera she's waiting for her scoop, informing her that Grace ran away after seeing her and Akira in the courtyard.
Sera asks no further questions, and calls Grace on the phone, who immediately picks up. Grace begins an apology, but Sera cuts it short, asking her to come back: it's important, and Sera needs her. She agrees, and ending the call, Sera asks Yoko if she plans on sticking around; Yoko decides to keep the scoop to herself for now, as Sera will likely show her something more interesting down the line - calling it an "investment" - and that she'll be making sure nobody is around when Grace arrives.
Sera thanks Yoko, who saunters towards the middle of the courtyard to scare Akira away with an interview request.
She reflects on things alone in the courtyard - on following her heart, on Akira being a catch in his own right, on Grace...
Grace appears at the tree, huffing and puffing, and Sera pulls her into a hug right away, who returns it. Grace asks her about Akira, who tells the truth; she turned him down, to Grace's shock.
Sera tells her the truth; she'd been running away from Grace. She admits that she used to think the two being friends would be all the happiness she ever needed, that it would be the one constant of her life, and that the future she was hoping for turned out not to be that happiness.
She confesses that she doesn't want to be just friends anymore. Reassuring her, Grace admits she feels the same, and Sera finally confesses formally.
"Grace, I love you."
"I...I love you too...um...!!"
Grace slaps herself, and Sera's hand is there a moment later to instinctively calm her.
The two pull in, and they kiss for the first time.
Lunch ends soon after Grace rejoins Sera and Akira, though learns that not much happened while she was away. Her mind returns to worrying about whether Yoko's rumours regarding Sera and Akira were true.
Otherwise, The school day passes normally, and at the last bell, Sera heads over to Grace at her desk to inform her that while her and Akira will be busy that day, they'll find time to hang out soon. Grace replies that she looks forward to it, and asks if they can go over some geometry problems when they have time too; Sera agrees, and leaves.
Afterwards, Grace meets with Yoko in the hallway, following her despite the watching eyes of her classmates - all the way to the courtyard, where the cherry blossom tree is. Yoko brings Grace to hide in the bushes, awaiting a love confession between two unnamed people.
Grace asks Yoko a few questions about the situation, and Yoko reminds her about the legend of the tree, having deduced from Grace's state in Chapter 5 that there was likely a love confession on the horizon. Impressed by Yoko's powers of deduction, Grace admits she herself has trouble reading expressions.
The confession begins, and Grace looks over on Yoko's direction; Sera and Akira. Nervous, Akira gathers his composure before telling Sera that after they graduate, his parents are moving to another city for work. He wishes the three of them could go to high school together, and realises that all the time he's spent with Sera is special to him.
Before she realises what she's doing Grace cries out for him to stop, cutting the confession short; she emerges from hiding and walks in between the two.
Realising she can no longer run away, Grace begins. She tells Sera how wanted and loved she made her feel, how she felt she could do anything with Sera around; how she wished to become someone Sera too could depend on. She used to call it "friendship", but...
"Sera, from the day we met, I've always been in love with you. A-and... even if you don't feel the same way, I just had to--"
Sera throws her arms around Grace, and admits to Akira that she's in love with Grace, who already seems to have had a feeling this was the case before walking away, dejected. Yoko approaches him for an "interview", and their voices vanish into the distance.
The two giggle momentarily into each other's shoulders, wondering about Akira before a silence falls.
It passes, and Sera asks Grace if she knew that she already depended on Grace, asking if she'll be there for her; the two look into each others' eyes again, and Grace realises what she feels is love.
"Sera, I'll stay with you as long as you want me."
"Then you're mine forever." Sera responds.
The two pull in, and they kiss for the first time.
Song
