HZ, for herz, roughly measures a player's skill and experience. Reaching certain amount of HZ is required to unlock various courses in Course Mode (provided the re:||VERSE DLC is owned). In addition, players also use it for bragging rights, as HZ is displayed in the leaderboards.

Only songs in the base game, re:||VERSE, and episode G award HZ. Songs in the Artist Packs do not award any HZ. In addition, each achievement is also worth some HZ.

HZ Calculation

Currently, HZ consists of two components: grades and achievements.

It is expected that the introduction of re:||VENGE difficulty in the future will add one new component to HZ, but it is currently not present in the game.

Ignition and re:||VERSE
Grades 2500 HZ From high grades by playing charts
Achievements 200 HZ From collecting achievements
episode G
Grades 240 HZ From high grades by playing charts
Achievements 60 HZ From collecting achievements

HZ from all components are added together. The game internally keeps track of all decimals, but it only displays the HZ rounded down to the nearest integer.

Grades

Maximum HZ of a chart

Each chart is given an amount of HZ. Getting a grade of SS will award this much HZ.

Ignition and re:||VERSE

The HZ of a chart is computed as follows:

1. Each difficulty level is assigned a total amount of HZ.

Lv1 charts make up a total of 100 HZ. All the other difficulty levels (from Lv2 to Lv13) have a total of 200 HZ each. Half-integer levels are rounded down (e.g. a Lv10.5 chart counts as a Lv10 chart).

2. Then, in each difficulty level, the amount of HZ is split equally over all charts with this difficulty level.

For example, there are 11 songs at Lv11 (4 songs with Hard Lv11 and 7 songs with Overload Lv11; some of them are Lv11.5, but they are rounded down). Therefore each of these charts is allotted <math>\frac{200}{11} = 18.181 \ldots</math> HZ. Other difficulty levels have different number of charts for that level, thus giving a different denominator, but the formula is the same.

The full table is shown below:

Level # of charts HZ per chart
1 2 50.00
2 4 50.00
3 8 25.00
4 11 18.18
5 11 18.18
6 9 22.22
7 9 22.22
8 13 15.38
9 11 18.18
10 15 13.33
11 11 18.18
12 4 50.00
13 4 50.00

episode G

In episode G, each difficulty of each chart is worth 10.00 HZ, for a combined total of 240.00 HZ.

HZ awarded for play

The amount of HZ for clearing a chart is a percentage of the HZ allotted to that chart. The percentage is based on grade; only the highest grade recorded counts. The corresponding percentage for each grade is given by this table:

Grade %
F 0%
C 20%
B 40%
A 60%
AA 80%
S 95%
SS 100%

In addition, clearing a chart counts as a clear for all difficulties below it at the same grade. For example, clearing Hard with grade AA also counts as a clear of Easy and Normal at grade AA, for the purpose of HZ calculation. This is likely to lessen the grind needed.

Achievements

There are 94 achievements in the game. The achievements "See You Next NOISZ," "To a New Adventure," and "For My Future Sins" are simply "get all" achievements, and they do not contribute to HZ.

The remaining 91 achievements award HZ. A total of 200 HZ is allotted to Ignition and re:||VERSE achievements, meaning that each is worth <math>200/82 = 2.4390 \ldots</math> HZ. A total of 60 HZ is allotted to episode G's 9 counted achievements, meaning each is worth <math>60/9 = 6.6666 \ldots</math> HZ.

Course Mode

HZ is used to unlock courses in Course Mode. The amount of HZ required to unlock a course is given in the following table:

Course HZ requirement
RED 500
WHITE 1000
BRONZE 1250
SILVER 1500
GOLD 1750
ULTIMATE 2000

It is expected that the introduction of re:||VENGE difficulty in the future will add one new course, but it is currently not present in the game.
