Firebird is a cloaked vigilante with a flaming sword, exclusively targeting abusers and predators. News articles note that support for them is sharply divided along gender lines, with Firebird having far more support with women. Their true identity is that they are another alter of Sumire, having been formed after their participation in Beyond's experiment.
Story
NOISZ STΔRLIVHT
Chapter 2
Firebird is first mentioned in Chapter 2.I, in a news report stating that several people have been hospitalised with third-degree burns after encounters with Firebird; social media chatter revealed all of them to be known serial abusers and predators.
Firebird only appears once in person, in an encounter with Grace in Chapter 2.IV; the two argue their differing viewpoints on the meaning of justice. Grace argues what Firebird is doing is not justice, though Firebird does not particularly care whether they are labelled a hero or a villain, instead focusing on protecting the weak. Firebird states their actions are for the sake of peace and tells Grace that one day she will have to realise how harsh the world is before leaving; Grace attempts to follow, but is interrupted by a Noise Beast. While dispatching it, Firebird absconds. |
Chapter 3
It is mentioned in a news article in Chapter 3.I that Firebird intercepted Eito Hojo on his way to Yumi's apartment to kill her; the article states that a struggle occurred before Firebird ran Eito through with a flaming sword, killing him - Firebird's first fatality. The police were unable to find Firebird afterwards.
This casts suspicion on Hitori, though Hakuno says he and Sumire were asleep at the time the confrontation occurred. Firebird continues to attack abusers throughout Chapter 3, though without fatalities. |

Chapter 5(TH)
In Chapter 5.3 of True Heroes, Sumire figures out the true identity of Beyond and interrogates her for information on their fight with Gaius. At the end of the conversation, Sumire asks Beyond who "Firebird" really is.
Later, as she and Hitori deal with the fallout of Hakuno being outed by Yashiro, their argument brings up Firebird and their murder of Eito. Sumire attempts to argue that it doesn't matter if Firebird takes revenge since they're still part of Sumire. Hitori reveals he's afraid if Sumire embraces that part of her, he will die. Sumire agrees to contain the rage for his sake, but notes that Firebird may not be so patient. |
Chapter VS
In VS Prelude, Firebird makes their move on Yashiro, lighting the apartment on fire and moving to kill him before being interrupted by Hakuno. She demands they back off, but they refuse, leading the two to fight.
Continuing in VS.3, Hakuno attempts to call out to them as Hitori, but realizes they're someone else entirely after breaking their mask. Firebird admits to their real identity: originally, they'd been the place between Sumire and Hitori, and the anger they hold. After participating in an experiment to bring Sumire and Hitori out together by Beyond to create an even stronger NOISZ user, the Firebird Hakuno sees before her was born. They admit that, although the experiment failed and their "self" is a mistake, their justice is real, and demands Hakuno stand aside. After being defeated in VS.4, Firebird laments how Hakuno seems to have everything they don't, to which Hakuno says they'll share that with them as their friend-even if they started on rough terms. Firebird admits the memory of killing Eito still haunts them, as they can't fully convince themself killing him was the right thing to do. Hakuno offers to let them rely on her more, which Firebird agrees to, but warns it won't be different when they face off against Gaius. They offer to put the flames out, but Hakuno declines, and the two simply carry Yashiro to the door and leave the apartment to burn. Hakuno tells Firebird that all of "them" can rely on her, which Firebird offers to pass on, although they're more "seperated" from Sumire and Hitori at the moment. In VS Postlude, Firebird is mentioned again, as Sumire resolves to accept them alongside Hitori, including the parts they hate. |
